Battle of the Buildings Food Drive

Press Releases Posted on October 28, 2025

The spirit of giving is alive in Manvel as the City announces its second-annual Battle of the Buildings Food Drive! This friendly competition pits the Manvel Police Department, Public Works Department, Fire Marshal’s Office, and City Hall staff in a good-natured rivalry to collect the most food donations for a great cause.

From November 3 through December 22, 2025, residents are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items at Manvel City Hall, 20031 Morris Ave. All donations will support The Well on MastersRoad, a local organization dedicated to serving families in need.

Residents can show their support by rallying behind their favorite team — the Police Department, Public Works, Fire Marshal’s Office, or City Hall — when dropping off their donations. Every can, box, and bag counts toward the final total, and together, the City aims to make this its most successful drive yet.

Residents are encouraged to donate new, unopened, non-perishable food items such as:

  • Vegetables (corn, green beans, peas, carrots, etc.)
  • Fruits (peaches, pineapple, fruit cocktail, etc.)
  • Beans (black, pinto, kidney, baked beans, etc.)
  • Soup, chili, or stew
  • Tuna, chicken, or salmon
  • Tomato products (diced, sauce, paste, etc.)
  • Rice
  • Pasta and noodles
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Instant potatoes
  • Dry beans
  • Cereal and oatmeal
  • Pancake mix and syrup
  • Flour, sugar, salt, and baking mixes
  • Shelf-Stable Proteins & Meals
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Canned pasta meals (ravioli, spaghetti, etc.)
  • Boxed meals (Hamburger Helper, stuffing mix, etc.)
  • Granola bars or protein bars
  • Crackers and pretzels
  • Applesauce cups and fruit cups
  • Shelf-stable milk or powdered milk
  • Coffee and tea
  • Baby food and formula (unopened, within expiration date)

Please avoid donating expired, opened, or perishable items and glass containers to ensure safety and ease of transport.
