Trunk or Treat Halloween Art Contest

Art contest logo. It is similar to the Trunk or Treat logo.

The City of Manvel invites school-aged artists to participate in its Halloween Art Contest! Participants have from October 1 – 27 to submit their artwork to the City of Manvel for consideration. Participant artworks will be displayed in City Hall for the duration of the month. Winners will be announced during the Trunk or Treat event on October 27.

We invite young artists to conjure up their most imaginative and eerie artworks to haunt the halls of our City facility and enter for a chance to win some monstrously marvelous prizes. This hair-raising event is perfect for little monsters of any age— let your creative spirit run wild!

Whether it's a ghastly painting or a spine-chilling scrapbook, Mayor Davis and our panel of judges will be on the lookout for the most spooktacular creations.

Winners will be selected from three age groups: Kindergarten – 5th grade, 6th – 8th grade, and 9th – 12th grade.

Accepted mediums:

  • Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
  • Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal
  • Two-dimensional collages
  • Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
  • Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.

While prizes will only be handed out to school-aged children, we still invite every child to participate! This year's contest will feature coloring page options for younger children. We can't wait to see the colorful masterpieces that these budding artists will create! Swing by City Hall, 20031 Morris Ave., to pick up a coloring page or download the set at cityofmanvel.com/trunkortreat.

Submissions will need to be made in person at City Hall, 20031 Morris Ave. no later than 5 p.m. on October 27. Artwork should be submitted on either 8x10”, 11x14”, or 11x17” sized paper with each participant's name, age, and grade clearly listed on the back.

All artwork will be displayed in City Hall through the month of October and will be returned to artists at the Trunk or Treat event on October 27. Winners will receive a special prize! For questions about the contest, email brianna.bobb@cityofmanvel.com or call 281-692-2702.
