Deceased Animals
To report a deceased animal, email Animal Control or call 281-489-1212.
Shelter locations
The Manvel Animal Control has a temporary holding shelter located at the Police Department, which takes in stray or loose animals. Manvel Animal Control does not take in owner-surrendered animals. If the owner of an impounded animal is not located, the animal will be transferred to the Houston Humane Society, SPCA of Brazoria County, or Three Little Pitties Rescue.

Registration
Per City ordinance, pets older than three months must be registered with the Manvel Police Department, with renewals made annually. Download the Animal Registration Form. Registration should include:
- A current certificate of rabies vaccine
- The address, name of owner and telephone number of the owner
- A description of the animal
Animal Shelter Advisory Committee
The Animal Shelter Advisory Committee meets quarterly and assists the City of Manvel in safeguarding the health and well-being of animals in its jurisdiction by ensuring compliance with Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code pertaining to animal shelters.
The committee consists of four members, including:
- One licensed veterinarian
- One county or municipal official
- One person whose duties include the daily operation of an animal shelter
- One representative from an animal welfare organization
The Manvel Animal Control Animal Shelter Advisory Committee serves as a vital link between the community, city officials, and animal welfare services. The committee provides guidance, oversight, and recommendations to ensure the humane treatment and proper care of animals within the City of Manvel.
The committee’s responsibilities include:
- Reviewing shelter operations and policies to promote animal welfare and public safety
- Advising on programs that encourage responsible pet ownership and community education
- Ensuring compliance with state regulations and best practices for animal shelter management
- The committee is composed of local residents, animal care professionals, and representatives appointed by the City Council. Together, they work to strengthen the bond between Manvel’s citizens and its animal control services, fostering a compassionate and well-informed community.
