Planning, Development & Zoning Commission Application

  1. Description

    Please complete the form and sign at the bottom of the page. A copy of your driver's license or other state-issued ID will need to be attached to the application in order for it to be processed.

    Physical submissions of this application can be made to the City Secretary's Office at 20031 Morris Ave.

    Qualifications for appointment to the Planning, Development & Zoning Commission include: 

    • Must be a resident of the City of Manvel for at least 12 months 
    • Real property owners 
    • Not employed with the City of Manvel
    • Must have attended at least two consecutive PD&Z Meetings prior to being considered for appointment (3/6/2023).

        • February 27, 2023

    In addition to the qualifications for service on a board required by City ordinances or state law, a person appointed to a board must not be delinquent in the payment of taxes, water service charges, or other obligations to the city.

    Purpose: To review, advise and make recommendations to the City Council on matters relating to City and extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) planning and development.

    Duties: The Planning, Development & Zoning Commission shall serve as an advisory body and adjunct to the City Council, and shall make recommendations regarding amendments to the Master or Comprehensive Plan, changes of zoning, zoning ordinance amendments, and zoning to be given to newly annexed areas, and other planning related matters for the physical development of the City. Approval or disapproval of plats of proposed subdivisions submitted in accordance with City ordinances as adopted or hereafter amended. Serve in an advisory capacity on any planning-related item(s) in the City and perform other duties as provided for by the City Charter.

    Time Commitments: Twice per month, in the evening, if needed, usually requiring 1 to 2 hours. Additional meetings may be required infrequently to accommodate particular circumstances.
     
    Term: All appointees to the Commission shall serve as a member of the Commission for a term of office of two (2) years. Members may be reappointed with no limitation on the number of terms one member may serve.
     
    Meetings: Every second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Manvel City Hall.

    By providing my signature below, I understand that should I not be appointed to a City of Manvel board or commission, this application and any other records obtained, collected or otherwise prepared regarding this application shall be maintained in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act and the City of Manvel's document retention schedule.

    I certify that my answers above are true and complete. I understand that the information contained in this application may be considered among other criteria, qualifications and/or information, by the City Council in its evaluation for the position being sought. I further understand that should I be appointed to any City of Manvel board or commission, I serve at the pleasure of the City Council and may be removed from said position at any time and for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. I also understand that should I be appointed to a City of Manvel board or commission, I must be responsible for a creditable record of attendance and performance. If this application leads to my appointment to a position on a City of Manvel board or commission, I understand that false or misleading information in my application may result in my removal from my position.

  16. Final Instructions

    Provide all information requested: Incomplete applications will NOT be considered for a board or commission placement. Your complete application form will be maintained in our active files for one year from the date of the application. 

    Knowingly making a false entry in, or false alteration of, a governmental record is an offense under Section 37.10 of the Texas Penal Code and, upon conviction, may subject a violator to criminal penalties.
